Why this exists
It started with a favourite book. The Little Prince, in a PDF scanned years ago, was the book one of us wanted to read in bed, on a phone, with the lights down. The pages would not cooperate: each one a fixed letter-size image, the type too small to read, every paragraph a pinch and a scroll. The converters we tried gave back one long picture, or lost the line breaks, or dropped the drawings. So we built the converter we wanted: one that keeps the text as text, lets your reader choose the font and the size, keeps the pictures where they belong, and shows you the result before you pay. The Little Prince got read, in bed. Every PDF since gets the same treatment.
What we do
toolkit.bot converts PDF files into EPUB3 format — the open standard for digital books. The resulting EPUB works on Kindle, Kobo, Apple Books, Google Play Books, and any EPUB-compatible app or device.
Our converter handles cases that general-purpose tools miss: two-column academic papers (arXiv, journal articles), scanned PDFs with no text layer (automatic OCR), and complex tables (rendered as real HTML, not images).

How it works
Upload a PDF. The converter extracts text, detects document structure (headings, paragraphs, lists, tables, multi-column layouts), and builds a valid EPUB3 file with semantic HTML markup. If a page contains no extractable text (scanned image), OCR runs automatically before extraction.
The output passes EPUBCheck validation and targets EPUB Accessibility 1.1 conformance: semantic heading hierarchy, language declaration, a navigation document, and table markup.
